MinimServer now shows up above my Music Folder (see below - ignore the two things above Minimserver - had my files there for JRiver and then installed the media server package and moved all the music files under music). Please install MinimServer, no matter what. Thanks - I've done that now. Your case may match one of the MinimServer supported scenarios, but you'll have to try it out to determine if it really fixes the problem(s) you encountered: So I'm still in the learning stage of dealing with it and appreciated all the input.Īlbum art identification from a music file or folder is the job of the media server, and the ones came with NAS are known to be less than ideal. Due to the stuff going on, I didn't even get to play music all that much and just started down the road of experimenting to figure out how to fix the problem. I had the files on the NAS but not under the 'Music' folder and I had not done the Media Server app on the Synology NAS. Was not ready for it (was dealing with lightning damage crap from an insurance co), but a deal came up on a lightly used one that I couldn't pass up. I basically got the Lumin U1 a few weeks ago. I just figured that once I'm done with re-tagging, then I'll just copy from the NAS to back-ups and then be done with it. So I guess my question is what will MiniMserver do to fix that? I have JRiver on a couple PCs and a couple of music servers and it displays the cover art either way. If I rename the jpg file to 'folder.jpg' and then edit the ID tags of the songs (for the new folder.jpg file), the cover art gets displayed. For example, if I have Bob Dylan's 'Blonde on Blonde' and named the jpg file 'BlondeonBlonde.jpg' the cover art doesn't pick-up. The re-tagging is mostly dsf files (and perhaps some 24-176 files from DSD files). Here's the procedure to add RAM to QNAP TS-251: (Note that TS-251A is newer) Here's the procedure to add RAM to Synology DS216+II: The models mentioned below are probably the absolute minimum.) (Note: Roon requires really powerful hardware to run well - CPU, RAM, storage, etc. Recommendation 3 and 4 are due to requirements of running Roon Server (if desired) Comes with or upgradeable to 2GB RAM or preferably more (certain NAS models come with less AND does not have RAM sockets for user-installable upgrades - avoid those) Must be able to install and run MinimServerĤ. Here's the latest recommendations for choosing NAS:ġ. Some controllers can be used to select & setup streaming services like Tidal, Quboz.Although there's Lumin L1 for ease of use, power users may opt for a powerful NAS for use with Lumin. UPnP controller: examples include BubbleUPnP, Hificast (both Android) and mConnect (iOS) run on phones and tablets to select and play the music. I chose to have 2 separate boxes because I wanted the extra power of the NUC to run convolution.Īlso, there are other UPnP server software, including Audirvana, JRiver, Plex, Synology & QNAP media players etc. Yes, it is possible to simplify and have the library and UPnP server in one box. The NUC can be substituted by a PC running Windows or Linux (many flavours) or a Mac. Note that MinimStreamer will soon move to an initial license fee and annual subscription, a small amount that I will willingly pay. UPnP server: I chose MinimServer because it was stable and well supported. It does convolution room correction using its optional module called MinimStreamer. What operating system is running your NUC? When you say you use Bubble to control music from a NAS do you mean your NUC is the NAS as well as the music server and this Bubble contacts this Minimserver?(if that makes sense). I'm a complete noob at all this so please bear with me but what you have done looks to be exactly what I need.
